Selected from among hundreds of international submissions, the REHAB-LAB Network has been recognised for its contribution to the development of accessible, personalised, and people-centred assistive technologies.

The European Rehab-Lab Network, whose rollout in Spain is coordinated by iSocial Foundation, has been selected as a finalist for the Zero Project Awards 2027, one of the world’s leading international awards dedicated to promoting innovation and inclusion for persons with disabilities.

This year’s edition of the awards focuses on independent living, political participation, and assistive technologies. In this context, Rehab-Lab was chosen from among 615 nominations from 94 countries, highlighting the growing international interest in this innovative model.

The Rehab-Lab Network promotes the development of personalised assistive devices through digital manufacturing technologies and 3D printing, with one distinguishing feature: users actively participate in designing the solutions they need. This approach helps foster personal autonomy and improves access to support devices tailored to each individual’s circumstances. Currently, the network includes 26 FabLabs across Spain and Andorra, and it is open to new organisations wishing to join through an annual call and accreditation process.

At iSocial, we welcome this recognition, which highlights the collaborative work carried out by the organisations, professionals, makers, and institutions that form part of the network. It is also a recognition of the people with disabilities who participate in the project, helping to define and improve the design of the assistive devices developed within it.

This nomination provides an opportunity to exchange experiences with initiatives from around the world and continue advancing the promotion of innovative solutions that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.

The selection process for the Zero Project Awards will now continue with an evaluation by hundreds of international experts. The award-winning projects will be announced on 3 December 2026, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
