Cognitive decline is the loss of functions associated with memory, learning, and other mental processes related to the reduction of brain activity. Its causes are related to aging, various infectious or chronic diseases, or may be the result of an unhealthy lifestyle. Neuropsychological rehabilitation is a therapy that aims to stimulate and develop the cognitive functions of a person that have been affected.

The Guttmann Institute has created an online cognitive rehabilitation platform that offers personalized treatments for people with neurological impairments. Guttmann, NeuroPersonalTrainer (GNPT) is aimed at neurorehabilitation professionals who serve individuals with brain damage, dementia, intellectual disabilities, and mental health-related conditions. Its use is very simple and guarantees high-quality personalized treatment.

Based on a neuropsychological assessment, professionals prescribe a treatment aimed at stimulating the brain areas affected in each patient. The platform allows therapists to plan rehabilitation sessions from a catalog of activities specifically designed to stimulate the deteriorated areas. The therapy consists of sixty sessions of approximately one hour, guided and adjusted by a neuropsychologist who monitors the process and adjusts the planning according to the patient’s progress. During these sessions, the patient performs exercises that, in real-time, adapt to their progress depending on the level of difficulty they present. Additionally, it offers follow-up visits aimed at the patient and/or the family, with the goal of discussing their progress and addressing emotional and behavioral aspects.

GNPT includes programs that automatically manage all available activities and generate personalized treatments automatically. This way, GNPT allows for resource savings and provides a fast and efficient service. It also allows the prescribed exercises to be carried out both from the reference healthcare center and from the patient’s home, ensuring accessible and flexible therapy. The therapist can monitor and follow the patient’s progress without the need to schedule a prior visit. In this way, they can evaluate the results and modify the treatment remotely, facilitating quick adjustments that adapt in real-time to the patient’s evolution.

It also offers professionals the opportunity to take online training to familiarize themselves with all its features and provide an efficient and up-to-date service. Additionally, the Guttmann NeuroPersonalTrainer website details all the centers using it and provides contact information.
