Montse Cervera, president of the iSocial Foundation, and Violeta Quiroga, director of the School of Social Work of the Barcelona University, have signed an agreement between both institutions to consolidate and expand the collaboration that already existed since the inn Ongoing by the iSocial Foundation. The agreement will promote and facilitate the participation of teachers of the School in the educational activities of iSocial, and the collaboration in research and innovation projects in the field of Social Services.

June 11th, the rector of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya-UOC, Mr. Josep A. Planell, and the president of the iSocial Foundation, Ms. Montse Cervera, have signed a framework collaboration agreement between both institutions, to promote joint training and research activities and to join forces in the development of innovation projects for the social sector. The agreement already includes a first list of three activities promoted by the iSocial Foundation in which the UOC will collaborate in the coming months.

On May 7th, the entire Social Services coordinator team of the Sabadell City Council, made up of 15 people, has begun the course of the iSocial Foundation “Leadership and Innovation in Social Services”. The course consists of 15 sessions of three hours, and will take place during the months of May and June.

Although there are already many technological solutions to improve the quality of life of the elderly, more must be done. That is why the Mobile World Capital Foundation, Barcelona City Council and 5G Barcelona have launched a call to find solutions that can have a positive impact on the daily lives of the elderly.

Palau Macaya hosted the Thursday 28 February this Conference organized by the iSocial Foundation, with the experts Luk Zelderloo and Thomas Bignal, who have explained the great window of opportunity that opens up in Europe in these coming years to access to finance the investment needs of the social services sector.

On February 12, 2019 the Social Foundation and the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement in order to strengthen the ethical perspective in the activities and research and innovation projects in the social sector that will promote the iSocial Foundation from now on.

On January 10, 2019, the Social Council of iSocial Foundation met at its new headquarters, 151 Lepant St. in Barcelona. This modern, recently-open facility houses also La Casa de Carlota and a communication company. La Casa de Carlota is an innovative design studio which includes among its professionals, people with autism and with Down syndrome. 151 Lepant St. facilities are then, besides an office space, also a creative space and an art gallery.

The City Council of Barcelona has put into operation by the end of 2018 a simulator that allows anyone to know the social aids to which they have the right, in an anonymous manner and regardless of the Administration that manages them. The system calculates the aid that can be requested and an estimate of the amount, and also explains how to process them.

The decision was made after the good results obtained in a pilot test carried out since October 2017 and focused on elderly and complex patients in two neighborhoods of Barcelona. The purpose of the interconnection between the information systems of the two administrations is to facilitate decision-making and improve attention to people

Next Thursday, November 22, Ship2B organizes its V Impact Forum: Purpose and Disruption, the major event in entrepreneurship and social impact investment in Spain. The Forum will focus on showing emerging technologies that are solving major social challenges.

The first plenary meeting of the Social Council of the iSocial Foundation took place on September 27 at the Palau de les Heures in Barcelona. In the meeting, the twenty members participants worked on a base document on what the foundation wants to be, say and make from now on.

At Microsoft’s head offices in Barcelona, the Bismart company and the ABD social organisation, one of the founders of Fundació iSocial, held a seminar to expound the benefits provided by artificial intelligence and Big Data in improving social services to professionals.

The Congress organisers enjoy the support of the Catalan organisations SUPPORT-Fundació tutelar Girona, Plataforma Educativa, SOM Fundació and Fundació Ramon Noguera, among others.

Organised by the Fundació TIC Salut i Social of the Government of Catalonia, the conference is a reference point in knowledge transfer, and contributes to aligning the world of research, business and healthcare and social assistance.

Microsoft will be holding an informative meeting for Ministries from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) engaged in the social services area in order to provide insights into how the digital transformation can help welfare agencies.

This meeting will serve to analyse the present and the future of the Basic Social Services and the role that professionals are called upon to play.
