Currently, the management of massive amounts of information represents a challenge for the administration of social services. wSocial is a tool that allows information to be centralized with the aim of streamlining administrative processes and facilitating the work of professionals.

wSocial is one of the information systems integrated into the eSocial platform, which is aimed at promoting Digital Transformation within the Department of Social Rights of the Government of Catalonia. This platform centralizes and coordinates twelve information systems (IS) that cover various areas of social services, with the goal of standardizing work processes and providing complete and up-to-date information to social service professionals. Within this digital ecosystem, wSocial is the designated tool for social intervention.

wSocial connects and standardizes the information systems of the different Basic Areas of Social Services (ABSS) and Social Rights. In addition, it includes health data and is prepared to access information from other systems such as Education or Justice, as well as from other administrations like the Tax Agency or Social Security.

The tool includes a citizen data viewer in order to offer comprehensive and integrated care focused on individual needs. Data centralization facilitates the planning of interventions, improves the evaluation of the services provided, and increases process transparency, enabling clearer and more effective tracking of each procedure.

wSocial uses a coded and standardized vocabulary called the Intersocial Dictionary, which enables interoperability with other social services and related fields. This vocabulary includes specific terms that help identify social issues or risk situations and is based on the international standard SNOMED CT. As data is entered—typically collected through an interview between the user and the social professional—wSocial automatically detects these predefined words and terms. Thanks to the use of specialized algorithms, it can detect situations of vulnerability and assist professionals in proposing different forms of intervention. Soon, wSocial will also allow interviews to be automatically recorded, transcribed, and translated.

Its goal is to simplify the administrative and operational processes of social services so that professionals can dedicate more resources to direct care. The tool proposes a new agile model of social intervention that improves the quality of relationships between professionals and citizens, offering a more effective and accessible service.
